Trail Project

Inclusive Mobility in Vocational Education and Training (IMVET).

The project promotes more accessible international mobility for VET students with disabilities.
Its main objectives are:

  • to identify and understand the barriers faced by students with disabilities when participating in mobility programmes;
  • to raise awareness among VET staff and European stakeholders about the need for inclusive mobility;
  • to provide practical tools for VET professionals, including a self-assessment instrument and guidelines for best practices;
  • to produce accessible and motivating communication materials for students with disabilities, helping them understand and access mobility opportunities.

The project runs from 01/09/2023 to 31/08/2026, focusing on inclusive vocational education and training, specifically on innovation in mobility practices, capacity-building of staff, and empowering students with disabilities.

  1. Toolkit for VET Professionals

for VET institutions so that they can evaluate how inclusive their current mobility programmes are, identify gaps, and improve. They also provide practical guidelines (good-practice recommendations) for VET educators and mobility coordinators on how to design and run mobility programmes that effectively accommodate the needs of students with disabilities.

  1. Accessible Information Materials for Students

communication materials that are accessible and “inspirational” for students with disabilities, lowering informational barriers so they better understand and can access mobility opportunities.

  1. Research to Understand Barriers

w/focus groups and desk research to map out the real needs, challenges, and obstacles that students with disabilities face during mobility (which will feed into the toolkit and strategy)

  1. Institutional Capacity-Building

raising awareness among staff, IMVET helps build institutional readiness, and it also encourages institutions to adopt more inclusive policies and mindsets, shifting toward more systemic accommodation, not just ad-hoc solutions.

  1. Accessible Logistics

The project aims to make the information about mobility (e.g. travel, accommodation) more accessible, structuring it so that students with disabilities can better navigate and plan their mobility (adapting content formats to make sure all students can use the information[etc]).

  1. Inclusive Evaluation & Follow-up

the self-assessment tool not only helps institutions assess where they stand but also suggests action points, so they can improve. Through the toolkit, there is a feedback loop, where institutions learn, implement changes, assess again, creating a sustainable inclusive mobility cycle.

Self-assessment tool that then allows to gather external feedback.
