Trail Project

In May and June 2024, Hors Pistes and its international partners organised the fourth edition of vol in green. Thanks to the 15 young people involved, from France, Germany and Romania, it was once again possible to create a collective, international and ecological dynamic.

Target Groups:

Young people, the point is to include participants with fewer opportunities, but not only. The type of difficulties doesn’t matter.

Special support required:

  • Preparation:

Each NGO had to prepare their own participants for the team volunteering.

  • 1st week:

The aim of the week was to build a collective dynamic by getting to know each other through games and participative activities, understanding each other’s needs and expectations, sharing common rules and creating the foundations of the ‘vol’in green family’.

  • 2nd & 3rd weeks :

During the 2nd week, the group supported the organisation of the ‘Les Artgricoles’ festival, set up in the outdoor areas of the youth hostel. They helped set up and dismantle the various areas (marquee, car park, green theatre, etc.), decorate the site and cook. During the weekend, the group worked alongside the volunteer team, enjoying the various shows, films, concerts, debates and informal moments with all the festival volunteers.

During the second week, the participants were divided into three groups, alternating activities with the farmers, preparing collective meals using local produce and communicating about the project. The volunteers were able to discover the different realities of alpine agriculture and discuss with them the different methods they use.

  • Last days : evaluation

The last days of the experience were dedicated to evaluating the project. Everyone revisited their expectations and fears, and thought about how to continue their commitment. They took a closer look at the climate issues, the group dynamic and the collective process, reflecting on the changes we can all make, individually or collectively.

Innovation:

  • Inclusion
  • International mobility
  • Ecology
  • Strong focus on group dynamic

A stronger link with the region, starting with the formation of the local French group and discovering the different realities of the region and local players.

Could be done in every EU country, thanks to ESC – group volunteering.
