The proposal targets MVNGO’s need to expand its educational offer in the Adult field to the empowerment of a specific sub-category of the Adult population (low-skilled Adults) substantially represented in the geographic area (North Sardinia) and in the urban reality (Historic Center of Sassari) where in MVNGO has the most direct outreach in its regular activities.
The thematic focus, inspired by the social and urban challenges the organization has observed as the most impacting on the wellbeing of the area and of the Adult categories established therein, is placed on the empowerment of low-skilled Adults’ citizenship and participation in the digital arena and in community-building efforts based on a citizens’ journalism approach.
Activities:
- A Training Course on citizens’ journalism participation involving 4 Trainers forming part of MVNGO’s staff in mobility toMadeira (Portugal), hosted by the partner Mobility Friends.
- Two Job Shadowings in St. Peters, Philipsburg, Holland both hosted by Caribbean Education and Culture Foundation, with the involvement of a member of the MVNGO staff who at different times participated in both JobShadowings, the first in the period 18- 29/12/2021 and the second 09-20/06/2022
Target Groups:
Low-skilled Adults
Innovation:
Empowering concrete exercises of the rights of citizenship and participation in disadvantaged adult categories by means of aware and impacting use of Social Media and digital communication instruments.
By addressing the need to find innovative ways of empowering low-skilled adults to exercise their right to citizenship and participation, the development of social media and communication learning programs can be translated into a wider approach to empower disadvantaged learners beyond low-skilled adults.
The use of citizens’ journalism can become a way for other disadvantaged learners to participate and identify concrete community building activities, thus expanding the scope of the project and potentially reaching a larger number of disadvantaged learners.
