Special Surf 78 is a surf school for everyone, located in the town of Peniche, voted one of the best places to surf in Portugal and one of the best in Europe. It aims to intervene in the world of sport, namely in the Educational, Recreational, Therapeutic and Competitive areas, using the natural environment of the beach as its surroundings (direct contact with nature) and the sea, waves and surfing as its instrument of intervention, which allows it to achieve the following objectives: Social inclusion of people with disabilities, Equal opportunities, Combating the prejudice of disability in relation to other citizens and Levels of psychological and social accessibility.
Main objectives of this school are to bring surfing to everyone, including people with disabilities, leaving no-one behind, breaking down stereotypes and proving that it is possible to promote the social inclusion of people with temporary or permanent disabilities, guaranteeing: Equal Opportunities, Access to Sport and Leisure and Physical and Mental Health / Well-being.

Target Groups:
All persons, whether or not they have temporary or permanent special cognitive and motor needs.

- Children and young people at risk of social exclusion, delayed cognitive and motor development
- Depression and anxiety
Special support required:
- Surf wetsuits and boards suited to our students’ circumstances and needs.
- Where needed, lessons can be held using a Tiralo beach chair or amphibian chair.
- The activity will always be planned taking into account sea conditions and especially the individuality of each student. Always with instructors on hand who specialize in teaching surf to individuals with disabilities and the number of instructors is suited to each student and his or her individual needs.
Innovation:
This project of inclusion and access for all fosters interaction between students regardless of their conditions. They have developed a strategy of helping, teaching and learning within the group and the classroom. The students create a relationship of closeness and acceptance with each other.
Synergy with other activities for disadvantaged people are always possible, namely the inclusion of adapted surf experiences in possible learning mobilities.
