Trail Project

In the autumn of 2022, the ERASMUS+ project “Seniors in the Education (SenEd)” was successfully completed, in which teachers and seniors-learners from educational institutions of 3 countries: Lithuania, Poland and the Czech Republic participated.

There we green bus trips organized  from Kaunas to Jelenia Gora (Poland), Prague, Kutna Hora (Czech Republic) and back to Kaunas. Czech, Polish and Lithuanian seniors from Third Age Universities and adult education institutions participated in the groups.

Target group:

Seniors (lecturers and learners).

Special support:

The training took place with breaks, so it was not long and tiring. Cultural activities were organized by bus, so that the participants did not have to walk for a long time.

Innovation

Participants were taught to use the Study Cycle method, a democratic approach where students select both the topics they want to explore and the leader of their group. Groups consist of up to eight people, allowing for personalized attention to each participant. This method ensures that only topics relevant and interesting to the group members are covered, fostering engagement and active learning.

A strong synergistic effect was achieved in the groups because senior citizens from former Eastern European countries, sharing similar ages and mentalities, participated together. Many of these seniors still remember the difficult times under Russian occupation, which fostered a unique sense of connection and mutual understanding during the activities. This shared historical and cultural background helped create a supportive environment that enhanced engagement and learning among participants.
