Every year in the South of France, France Travail offers jobseekers the chance to do a work placement in a European country, so that they can gain training, experience and new skills to boost their job search.
France Travail’s primary objective is to act as a real lever towards employability for participants. Traineeships are available in all areas of activity and are co-financed by the European Union (Erasmus + Training).
Parcours le Monde Sud-Est (local NGO) is in charge of implementing the project for France Travail.
Target Groups:
Job seekers – they have to be registered in France Travail.
Special support required:
Individual support in finding work placements and accommodation
Individual support is provided throughout the training period. Job seekers are accompanied by a Parcours Le Monde Sud-Est counsellor to help them find an internship and accommodation abroad. The search is carried out mainly remotely, and support for the unsolicited applications job seekers make: sending out company contacts and resource sites, following up on applications, direct contact with companies, direct contact with companies. Possibility of going through a placement agency (limited choice of countries) in the event of difficulties in finding an internship after 1.5 months of searching.
Preparing for the mobility trip
A compulsory training day takes place before the work placement departure. This day is used to create a dynamic with the other trainees who are about to leave, and to exchange advice and best practice on finding a placement and accommodation, as well as on arrival in the host country. It is also an opportunity to go over the administrative and financial aspects of the scheme, and to give an important place to the notion of interculturality.
Support during the placement
PLMSE will support job seekers during their work placement and offer them time to discuss needs.
Follow-up
Follow-up questionnaires are sent out twice during the 1 to 3 months of the work placement, in order to take stock of assignments, expectations and raise any needs job seekers may have.
2nd day of training – Valuing the mobility experience on return.
The 2nd day of training takes place on job seekers returning to France, following their work placement. This day provides an opportunity to review experiences, both on site and throughout the project, and to share them in order to improve the training and support offered by the trainers. This day also aims to bring the training to a close and to to take stock of the trainees’ future projects.
